The Commissioner’s Office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) lodged solemn representations with Consul General Julie Eadeh on Friday over US’ interference in Hong Kong affairs, expressing strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition, the office announced on Saturday.

The démarche came after the US Consulate General in Hong Kong issued a so-called “security alert” regarding the HKSAR government’s revision of the Implementation Rules for Article 43 of the National Security Law for Hong Kong.

In response, Commissioner Cui Jianchun requested a meeting with US Consul General Julie Eadeh to raise solemn representations, express strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to the US, urging the US to immediately stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs in any form and cease meddling in China’s internal affairs.
