China and the US, in the spirit of equality, respect, and mutual benefit, have maintained communication and cooperation in areas such as counter-narcotics law enforcement and have achieved notable results, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Friday, in response to a media question regarding the US side repatriating and transferring to the Chinese side a Chinese national and criminal suspect surnamed Han, who is suspected of drug smuggling and trafficking.

According to media reports, recently, based on clues provided by China's narcotics control authorities, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) repatriated and handed over to China a Chinese national criminal suspect surnamed Han, who is accused of smuggling and trafficking drugs. This is the first drug-related fugitive repatriated and handed over by the US side to China in recent years, marking a new achievement in China-US counter-narcotics law enforcement cooperation.

Mao said that specific questions should be referred to the competent Chinese authorities when asked to provide information and details on the cooperation case.
