Chinese government officials meet with CEOs of US enterprises Boeing, GE Aerospace, Qualcomm, Cargill

Officials from China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) met separately with CEOs of US enterprises in Beijing on Friday.

Zheng Shanjie, head of the NDRC, met with Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg at the commission on Friday, with the two sides exchanging views on topics including China's macroeconomic situation and deepening cooperation in the aviation sector, the NDRC said on its WeChat account.

Zheng said that China's sustained economic development will bring long-term opportunities to enterprises from various countries, including Boeing. China-US aviation cooperation has a solid foundation and great potential. China welcomes and supports Boeing in deepening practical cooperation with Chinese enterprises in accordance with commercial principles. 

The official expressed the hope that Boeing will continue to play a bridging role, focus on mutual benefit and win-win outcomes between China and the US, and contribute positively to strengthening practical cooperation between the two countries and promoting the healthy and stable development of China-US relations.

Ortberg expressed gratitude to the NDRC for its support of Boeing's development in China. He affirmed that Boeing's commitment to the Chinese market remains unchanged in the long term. Boeing is willing to work with its Chinese partners to continuously deepen cooperation in the aviation field and achieve more practical results.

On the same day, Li Chunlin, deputy head of the NDRC, met with Larry Culp, Chairman and CEO of GE Aerospace, and his delegation, at the commission. The two sides discussed strengthening aviation cooperation and China-US economic and trade exchanges, according to the NDRC.

Li said that China's aviation transport market is currently accelerating its development with strong momentum, which will bring broader development opportunities for companies such as GE Aerospace. China will continue to pursue high-level opening-up, steadily optimize the business environment, and provide higher-quality services for foreign-invested enterprises.

Li expressed the hope that GE Aerospace will continue to deepen its presence in China, increase investment, carry out extensive cooperation with Chinese enterprises, and make greater contributions to maintaining the stability of global industrial and supply chains.

Culp said that GE Aerospace has been in China for more than a century. The company is willing to further deepen cooperation and exchanges with Chinese enterprises to achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.

Also on Friday, Ren Hongbin, chairman of the CCPIT, met separately in Beijing with Cristiano Amon, president and CEO of Qualcomm, and Brian Sikes, president and CEO of Cargill. The meetings focused on strengthening exchanges between the Chinese and American business communities, deepening international cooperation in industrial and supply chains, and participation in the 2026 APEC series of business events, according to the CCPIT.
 
Ren said that China's economy continues to maintain stable and positive growth and is implementing the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), which will provide more opportunities for enterprises from all countries, including US companies.

The CCPIT is willing to work with the US business community to implement the important consensus reached between the two heads of state and promote stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-US economic and trade relations. Ren welcomed representatives of the US business community to participate in the 4th China International Supply Chain Expo and the 2026 APEC series of business events.

The foreign guests noted that the successful meeting between the leaders of China and the US has injected new momentum into bilateral economic and trade cooperation. The US business community is optimistic about China's development prospects and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China, making greater contributions to the development of China-US economic and trade relations, per the CCPIT.
