Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for solid measures to advance the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks during an inspection trip on Wednesday to the city of Dezhou, east China's Shandong Province.
