Ford president: Bring the best products to Chinese market

Car sales in China auto market has reached over 12 million in 2009, making China the world’s largest market for new vehicles. On September 25, the president and CEO of Ford Alan Mulally was interviewed by the International Herald Leader about how to develop Ford in China, after he attended the foundation laying ceremony of the new Chang-an Ford Mazda factory in Chongqing.
Chinese market is very important
I'm very satisfied with the development of Ford in China and the cooperation with Chinese partners,” said Mulally in the interview. “In the first half of the year, Ford car sales have risen 39 percent, and has becomes the best performing market in the world. The Chinese market is a very important new market in Ford’s global strategies. Ford is moving its Asia-Pacific headquarters from Thailand to Shanghai, and all this shows that Ford is paying a lot of attention to the Chinese market. The base of the new factory in Chongqing is one important step that Ford is extending its business in China.”
Bring in new vehicles in next three years
He also said, “Ford will bring the best products and techniques to China. In the following three years, Ford will plan to bring at least four new vehicles for Chinese consumers. In 2010, we will launch the EcoBoost engine technology and a series of advanced green energy saving technology, such as the PowerShift transmission technology.”
