Mercedes-Benz China to import 3 new models
comment
Klaus Maier, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz China, said the company underevaluated the demand of the Chinese market for its E-series model this year, and will introduce three new E-series models imported into the market.
The car company will also produce the E-series in China next year.
Since it was launched in China in July, 5,000 units of the E-series model have been sold. Maier said the first 10 months of sales in 2009 was 50,700 vehicles, up 55 percent year-on-year.
The company will keep its high-end image and stable prices, avoiding chasing sales volume blindly, he added.
Mercedes-Benz has no immediate plans to introduce its plug-in hybrid compact sedan S500 to China due to the cost. It only sells the hybrid S400 and Smart cars.
