Changan Ford to open 66 new dealers by year end

Changan Ford announced 40 of its new dealers opened simultaneously on Thursday and another 26 are to be added to its network by the end of 2010.

The number of dealerships of the joint venture between Changan Auto and Ford Motor will reach 340 by year-end. And most of them are in second-tier and third-tier cities in North and West China like Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province, Anyang in Henan Province and Wanzhou in Chongqing.

"Changan Ford is working hard to develop its market grip in cities in West China and developing cities," said Joe Hinrichs, president for Ford's Asia and Africa operations. "Those markets will be the major growth drive for automobiles in the future."

Changan Ford sold 49,681 vehicles in October, up 33 percent from a year earlier.
