The Passat new Lingyu uses VW's innovative design language to speak to Chinese motorists.
With "Art of Innovation" as its theme, Auto Shanghai 2009 will include a powerful lineup from joint venture carmaker Shanghai Volkswagen (SVW) at the New International Expo Center during its nine-day run from April 20-28.
China premieres of SVW's models - including the new Passat Lingyu, the Lavida Langyi, a new generation Touran, the Polo Sporty and the Crosspolo - will be shown at parent company SAIC's pavilion in hall E1, while several top VW and Skoda models be on display at the VW booth in hall W2.
SAIC is Volkswagen's Chinese partner in SVW.
Displaying strength
With "Harmonious Life" as its theme, the SAIC booth uses a totem video display, dance presentations and a fashion show to help highlight its cars, while the SVW area showcases the Passat Lingyu along with interactive presentations. The Skoda badge has several green models on display to illustrate SVW's environmentally friendly cars.
The VW booth employs a style first used at the 2008 Paris International Motor Show that integrates a media wall in its design.
The new Passat Lingyu clearly follows the quality lineage of the Passat brand, while the Lavida Langyi shows why it is popular in the A-class segment.
Sales of the new generation Touran continue to rise and the Polo Sporty, a new member of the Polo family, displays its dynamic charm of beamy headlights, sporty black interior and accessories. The Crosspolo has had an excellent reception for its high quality and precise market positioning.
