Changan Auto recently held a recruitment fair in Detroit's Marriott Hotel. About 150 industry elites attended the fair. After a preliminary interview, the company has sent more than 10 core experts the invitation letter for a further communication in China, media reported Tuesday.
Along with the Nottingham R&D Centre established at the end of June this year, Changan has so far opened eight R&D centers in Chongqing, Shanghai, Harbin, Jiangxi, Yokohama and Italy (two in Turin). After holding the job fair in Detroit and Nottingham, the Chinese automaker's global talent network has been successfully formed.
"In the next two years, Changan will bring in another 40-50 or more overseas senior talents to enhance its talent pool and technology strength and to largely improve its development in the meantime," the company's CEO Xu Liuping said. At present, Changan has a R&D team of 3,000 people, including six experts of the country's one-thousand-talents scheme and sixty overseas experts.
China announced a one-thousand-talents scheme in early 2009, aiming to boost the country's innovation capability. Under the scheme, it promises top salaries and attractive funding to elite researchers who are working overseas and willing to return to the country.
Known as the world's traditional automotive center, Detroit is home to Gereranl Motors, Ford and Chryser. Changan must have found itself some brilliant researchers, engineers and technological talents in the city.
