Mercedes Benz exceeds expectations selling 87,400 sedans in Chinese mainland

German automaker Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz said Wednesday that sales from January to August totaled over 87,400 units, up 131 percent from a year earlier.

The company sold 13,340 vehicles in China in August, up 119 percent from a year earlier, as its S-Class sedans logged strong sales growth to 306 percent to 2,430 units last month.

Hao Bo, executive vice-president of sales and marketing of Mercedes-Benz (China), said Benz’s A-Class will be introduced into the Chinese market in September, and SLS AMG will be launched at the end of this month.
