With 17,797 vehicles registered in October, which is 43 percent higher than that of last year, Guangzhou ranked first in the nation in number of vehicles registered. Shenzhen followed with 2,700 units short of that of Guangzhou.

First line cities such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen and second line cities like Zhongshan, Shantou, Zhuhai, so on... have become the main force in the Chinese auto market.

The total number of car registrations in the first ten months in Guangzou was of 156,954 units, 4,919 higher than the total number of 2009.

Lavida entered the Top10, Dongfeng Nissan fell below

Auto registration chart of Guangzhou automakers from January to October:

Top 10 models in October (Guangzhou)

According to the table, the number of Western-brand cars (such as Shanghai GM, FAW – Volkswagen, Shanghai Volkswagen, etc.) registered increased more than 50 percent in the first ten months, which is higher than the average level of 37.7 percent in Guangzhou. However, Japanese cars didn't do well in the competition. Although Dongfeng Nissan and FAW – Toyota still ranked the first and the second respectively, GAC Honda's place has already been taken by Shanghai GM while FAW – Volkswagen is catching up.

Dongfeng Nissan, FAW – Toyota, and Guangzhou Honda all have market shares around 1.5 percent lower year-on-year, which shows a continuous decline for Japanese cars. Shanghai Volkswagen's market share in Guangdong Province has increased to 6.18 percent from the 4 percent in October. Lavida under the brand entered the TOP 10 most registered vehicles in Guangzhou for the first time.
