Taiwan will open its auto market to Chinese mainland automakers for the first time in 2011; however with certain quota, the details of which will be discussed at the second round negotiations at the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (EFCA) in February, the Economic Daily News reported Thursday.

Taiwan is expected also to sell 100,000 vehicles on the mainland every year.

Introducing mainland vehicles to Taiwan will impact local automakers since Taiwan auto market is smaller than the Chinese mainland's in scales, said a Taiwan official.

Vehicles sold in the Chinese mainland reached 17million units in 2010, while the number in Taiwan was 300,000-400,000 units.
