Ford sales in January grows 20%

Ford Motors announced Thursday that its sales in Chinese market in January increased 22 percent year-on-year, reaching 53,300 units.

Good performances of both Ford and JMC brands booted the sales. Ford brand vehicles sales surged 15 percent year-on-year to reach 38,445 units and sales of JMC brand vehicles was 14,895.

Changan Ford Mazda Automobile sold 40,516 vehicles last month, including 31,904 Ford brand vehicles and 8,612 Mazda brand vehicles.

Jiangling Motors Corporation, Ford's commercial vehicle partner in China, sold 20,966 units in January with an increase of 40% than that of last year.

Ford Transit continues to be the pilot in the high-end light commercial vehicle market with a sales of 6,071 units in January, 51% higher than that of last year.

Ford Focus, mainly aiming at mid-end market, hit a sales record of 19,734 units in January since its launch in 2005, registering a growth of 22 percent year-on-year. The monthly sales of this model have stood over 10,000 units for 23 consecutive months.
