Canine cops


Anyone who regularly commutes on the Shanghai metro must have met Sheng Mi or Xiao Hu at least once. Sheng Mi and Xiao Hu are the metro police’s two patrol dogs whose primary daily duty is to sniff out explosives or flammable items entering a station. Along with their human partners – metro police officers Lu Jie and Wang Shiqun – the canines help assure the safety of Shanghai subway operations.
