BYD to feature powerful engine on models

BYD is planning to promote its models by launching a powerful engine and dual-clutch transmission, according to auto.ifeng.com.

Just after the Chinese automaker announced to reduce prices of most of its models, Xia Zhibing, BYD's sales general manager, said that the automaker will feature a turbo-charged direct-injection engine and a dual-clutch transmission in the models G3, L3, G6 and F6.

The powertrain with BYD's independent intellectual property rights is developed by BYD and Daimler, said an insider, and will be shown at the Shanghai Auto Show.

BYD G3R and S6 are posed to be equipped with the new engine and transmission and be released at the end of 2011.
