After it imported its all-new E-Class sedan to the Chinese market last month, Mercedes-Benz China recently announced that the newly unveiled Mercedes-Benz 2010 S-Class models will be also introduced to China soon, xinhuanet.com reported today.

The first batch of the Mercedes-Benz 2010 S-Class models to be imported to the Chinese market will include the S350, S500 and the first Mercedes-Benz S-Class hybrid sedan - S400 Hybrid.

Mercedes-Benz, a premium sedan unit of Daimler Ag, unveiled the 2010 S-Class in early July. Powered by a choice of two diesel and six gasoline engines of 6-, 8-, and 12-cylinder design, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class features lower CO2 emissions and a 7 percent reduction in fuel consumption, with no loss of power.

Diesels units begin with the S350 CDI BlueEfficiency - a 235bhp, 3-liter version with fuel consumption of 7.6 liters per 100km, and CO2 emissions of 199g/km. Gasoline units include the S350 3.5-liter six-cylinder 272bhp, and two 8-cylinder units - the 4.7-liter/340bhp S450, and 5.5-liter 388bhp S500.

One innovative model is the S400 hybrid - a model claimed by Mercedes-Benz to be the world's most efficient gasoline-engined luxury sedan. Seen as a pioneering step toward auto electrification, the S400 links a modified 3.5-liter V6 gasoline and lithium-ion battery-powered electric motor.

The selling price of the recently imported all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan starts from 650,000 yuan ($95,200). An extended version of the new model will be made locally by Beijing Benz Daimler next year to meet the Chinese customer's special needs for a luxury car's space.
