The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office said November 11 that it had indicted seven senior engineers at Ssangyong Motor Co on charges of leaking key gasoline-electric hybrid car technology to China's SAIC Motor Corp in 2006.

Prosecutors said the seven from Ssangyong's research institute would stand trial on charges of breaking a law on industrial secrets.

SAIC has a 51 percent stake of Ssangyong, though the Chinese automaker lost management control when the South Korean company received protection from bankruptcy in February this year.
