Lifan rivals in Subaru JV

Lifan Group, a Chongqing based automotive producer is reportedly in talks with Subaru on what seems to be the prelude for a possible joint venture (JV) for the production of the Japanese automaker's models in China.

Development and Reform Commission of Chongqing has listed the Subaru project as one of its important projects for 2010.

So far, six Chinese automakers: FAW, SAIC, BAW, Jiangling, Chery and Lifan, have jumped into the competition for Subaru's preference.
