Guangqi Honda to recall 156,302 Fit, City cars

Guangqi Honda Automobile Co., Ltd, Honda Motor Co.'s 50-50 joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., will recall a total of 156,302 sedans in China due to engine faults, beginning from February 25, according to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Thursday.

The recall affects 40,847 units of 1.5-liter Fit compact produced between January 7, 2008, and January 29, 2010, and 115,455 units of 1.5-liter City small cars produced between April 29, 2008 and January 26, 2010.

The engine faults could result in abnormal sounds being generated and cause the engine to stall.

Guangqi Honda will replace the component of the engine for free.
