2010 Acura MDX
The Japanese auto brand Acura will keep selling high fuel consumption vehicles with at least 3.0-liter engines to the Chinese market based on customers' needs, according to the Beijing Times.
Due to the worldwide financial crisis, Japanese automaker Honda halted the development of several new models, including its Acura NSX, and even the hot-selling compact SUV RDX will have its China debut delayed.
"Acura's main model next year will be the 2010 MDX, and the company will try to sell more TL models," said Shimizu Yasumasa, head of the Acura Division in Honda Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd.
He said during last month's Guangzhou Auto Show that sales of Acura's 3.5-liter vehicles had dropped 30 to 40 percent since September 2008 because of the tax increase on high fuel consumption vehicles.
