To celebrate the 70th birthday of the People's Republic of China, the People's Oriental Publishing and Media company has published a book covering the history and events that occurred over the 10 months leading up to the country's founding.

Birth: 10 Months of the Founding of the People's Republic of China was written by Dong Wei, the director of People's Daily Press company and a PhD majoring in the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

"Studying the country's history can shape a person's own national cultural values and national identity, and allow them to reflect on the country's culture, history and tradition," Ge Zhaoguang, a professor from Fudan University, said of the book, according to a report from people.cn.

Differing from other history books on the founding of the PRC, the book focuses exclusively on the period from January 1 to October 1, 1949, covering the founding of the nation step by step.

For example, the book covers how the PRC flag was designed by Zeng Liansong, and delves into his life and his design intent.

The book has been printed on pale yellow paper, to give readers a sense of age and history, as well as to be easier on the eyes while reading for long periods of time, according to the people.cn report.
