Giant boots made from pieces of old carpet and worn by street sellers in Heihe, Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province where frostbite can occur in minutes, have become an online curiosity but aren't likely to start a new fashion trend….unless…  

A video report compiled by Pear Video shows many of the vendors wearing the one-of-a-kind galoshes-like boots that are pulled on over their ordinary street shoes. Many are made of colorful old wool carpet with a thick cotton sole and ties that keep the boots wrapped around the wearer's leg.

The video shows one of the vendors clomping down a street in boots that look as if he could wear them while walking on the moon.  

The video report estimates some of the boots appear to be about a size 80.

"We aren't cold with these giant boots for protection. Welcome to the north!" says a street seller to a curious visitor from South China. 

"I think I have somehow discovered the secret of Bigfoot," wrote a netizen on Sina Weibo. 

"The boots look really cute! I wonder what it would be like to walk on the snow with them," said another curious Net user from South China's Guangdong Province.
