The buyer of a leather coat that was so thin and crisp that it could be ripped like a piece of paper, finally got a refund of 1,500 yuan ($215) and 500 yuan in compensation.

The man, surnamed Wen, bought the "paper coat" in Haining, East China's Zhejiang Province, according to a video posted online by Zhejiang TV.

Wen returned to the shop and showed the shop owner how easily the so-called sheep leather could be ripped.

The shop owner rejected the claim of Wen, who then took the coat to the local market supervision authority. When Wen returned to the shop with a supervisor, the owner argued about the quality of the coat until Wen poked a hole in the coat with a finger.

To the laughter of others in the shop,  the embarrassed shop owner finally admitted the coat has been in storage for two years. Authorities are inspecting the shop's inventory and promised it will be fined if fakes are found.
