A hospital was apparently thinking of mothers with young boys who had to go pee, when it installed a urinal in a women's washroom in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province, but the commode of convenience hasn't exactly been well received.

The small, low-on-the-wall urinal is seen in a video posted by Pear Video set close to the toilet stalls in the women's washroom in the Hangzhou First People's Hospital. While the hospital hasn't explained why it installed the ubiquitous apparatus in the wrong setting, reports suggested it was designed to protect young boys from who knows what during an unaccompanied trip to the men's washroom.

"The move could prevent boys from getting lost or being abducted when they use the men's washroom," a woman at the hospital told Pear Video, who also suggested some women might think a man could come in the women's washroom to use the urinal.

"I felt uncomfortable when I saw the men's urinal. I have privacy issues in public washrooms," a 20-something woman told Pear Video.

"It shows the hospital really cares about mothers and kids," said another woman to Pear Video.

The video received more than 1.5 million views in just 12 hours after it was posted on Twitter-like Sina Weibo.

Many Net users agreed that hospitals should have "parent-child only" washrooms.
