A coffee shop here in the virus-hit city in central China has become well-known, as it kept making free coffee for medical workers working at nearby hospitals.
One of the workers at the cafe named Wakanda caught attention with his foreign look. The 29-year-old Iranian, Sina Karami, came nearly two years ago to China and has been living in Wuhan. He is the only foreigner of the seven baristas who chose to deliver a helping hand during the difficult time.
Although Wuhan declared an unprecedented lockdown on Jan. 23 to contain the spread of the virus to other parts of China and beyond, the cafe started taking take-out orders through apps on the third day after the seal-off.

"Doctors and nurses are the true heroes who risk their lives to fight the virus. We're just trying to help them in our way -- with some good coffee," said Tian Yazhen, owner of the cafe.
"I consider myself a resident of Wuhan, so I decided to stay with my friends to confront the virus. Even if our contribution is small, we will continue to do so every day," said Karami, who is proud of joining the league and serving free coffee at the shop.

"When the outbreak of the new Coruna virus started, we asked ourselves what we should do in these circumstances, then we decided to stay together and do our best to give everything we can to anyone who needs help, like doctors and nurses in the city," Karami told Xinhua.
According to Karami, at first, his family was very anxious about hm turning down an offer to return to his home country on a chartered flight and staying in Wuhan.
As more and more news about the cafe went to Iran through internet, "all members of my family say they are proud of me," Karami said in a happy and relaxed voice.
"I have full confidence that China is able to defeat the virus. There is a lot of pressure, that is true, but they (the Chinese) are doing their best to fight the virus. This may take some time, but the Chinese government is taking all kinds of measures to contain the outbreak in Wuhan in an amazing way," he added.
