China's Foreign Ministry says that with China's successful experience in containing the coronavirus, it is willing to make contributions to the global battle against COVID-19 while making unceasing efforts to tame the epidemic domestically.

Geng Shuang, a spokesperson of the ministry, made the remarks at a Wednesday press briefing, noting that with joint efforts, China and the international community will finally achieve victory against the coronavirus.

Geng stressed the importance of communication, saying the sharing of epidemic information is key to global cooperation. He said China will continue to share the information transparently with others in a highly responsible manner, as China shared the genetic sequence with World Health Organization (WHO) in the early stages of the outbreak.

China will also share its experience with other countries and regions that need it. China has released the seventh version of the coronavirus treatment guideline, which has been translated into multiple languages and shared with other countries. China has held video conferences with the EU, ASEAN, the SCO, countries in the South Pacific region, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia to exchange experiences and strengthen the global public health capability, Geng said.

In addition, China has assigned medical groups to epidemic-stricken countries where they are needed. So far, China has dispatched expert groups to Iraq and Iran, and is preparing to send elite medical groups to aid Italy, a move that has been praised by locals. We will continue to provide support to countries that need it, said the spokesperson.

In addition to the $20 million donated to the WHO, China has provided medical supplies such as masks, medicines and protective outfits to the international community, said Geng, adding that China's organizations have also aided other countries.

China is willing to cooperate with other countries in the research and development of medicines, vaccines, and test kits, providing China's plan to contain the coronavirus globally, he said.
