During the novel coronavirus epidemic, the needs of one particular group cannot be neglected - the elderly. According to official statistics, people over the age of 60 in China account for 18.1 percent of the total population. Data show the older generation face a greater risk of being infected, yet many are being taken-in by rumors on the internet. How does society ensure that everyone is getting correct, evidence-based information? Younger people sometimes express concerns that their parents aren't wearing masks or staying at home. The epidemic provides a chance to improve social services to the elderly. After all, the level of care given to the elderly reflects on the development of society as a whole.
