All the hotels available for isolation in Suifenhe, a city with a population of 70,000 on the China-Russia border, are fully occupied, a source familiar with the issue told the Global Times on Thursday.

The source said that not only are designated hotels for isolation fully occupied and lacking medical resources, other hotels that do not meet the standards are currently being filled with medical workers who have come from other regions to help.

Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, which administrates Suifenhe, reported another 40 Chinese imported coronavirus infections, all from Russia, on Thursday. The Suifenhe land port is going at full speed to build a makeshift hospital with 600 beds as imported cases from Russia soar. The hospital is expected to put into use on April 11.

The Chinese Embassy in Russia noted on Wednesday that the passages at the land borders between China and Russia have been temporarily closed.
