The origin and transmission pattern of the novel coronavirus are a scientific question and should be left to scientists and medical experts to study, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian reiterated at a press conference on Thursday, in response to US media Fox New's report on the coronavirus being from "Wuhan laboratory."

Experts from the World Health Organization have repeatedly said that no evidence shows the coronavirus was made in a lab. Prominent medical experts worldwide agreed it is groundless to say the virus was made in a lab.

Epidemic disease is a common enemy to human beings and the international community should properly deal with it to overcome it. China will carry on the efforts to work together with all countries in battling this critical disease, Zhao said.

Fox News released a report on Wednesday, citing anonymous sources as saying that the coronavirus was made in a Wuhan lab.

US President Donald Trump said at Wednesday's press conference that the US is conducting an investigation on this.
