Three batches of beef imported from Brazil have been found to carry coronavirus on their inner packaging in Taiyuan, North China's Shanxi Province, local authorities said on Tuesday. The 20 beef products in question were sealed off before they could enter the market.

During an inspection for imported frozen meat and aquatic products in Taiyuan on Monday, three samples of the inner packaging of beef imported from Brazil sent from Zhengzhou in Central China's Henan Province were found to have coronavirus, according to the notice released by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Taiyuan.

Emergency measures including food traceability, personnel investigation and isolation, and site disinfection were immediately taken by local authorities. Coronavirus nucleic acid tests were performed on all contacts and cargo in the same vehicle, and the results were all negative.
