Beijing has vaccinated more than 5 million people against COVID-19 as of Tuesday using 7.65 million doses since the city rolled out the vaccination to nine key high-risk groups on January 1, media reported citing the city's vaccination working group.

As of Tuesday, 2.64 million people in Beijing had been vaccinated with the required two doses. Beijing authorities on Tuesday said that they have vaccinated some people aged 60 and above who need vaccines and are in good physical condition, and will expand vaccination for the age group based on the national vaccination policy.

Vaccination for people aged 18 and under will also be carried out based on vaccine development and clinical trial results, the authorities said on its website.

Beijing will carry out the next phase of vaccinations in a steady and orderly manner, focusing on those at high risk of infection, those who maintain basic social functions, and those who are in key service positions to ensure the supply of essential goods and amenities, as well as people working in the service industry and labor-intensive industries, said the local authority on Tuesday.
