An iron mining company in North China's Hebei Province has been brought under scrutiny for trying to cover up a deadly accident in February, which left six dead, the local government said on Wednesday.

An accident occurred on February 24 at Tuanchengdong Mining Co Ltd, a subsidiary under Wu'an Metallurgic Mine Company, in Hebei's Wuan city, when six miners fell to their dead in the process of lifting a shaft.

The company didn't report the accident to the local government and relevant departments, according to a notice the Wu'an government published on its website on Wednesday.

Local authorities conducted an investigation on this firm soon after the information saying "an iron mine in Wu'an was suspected of concealing a deadly accident" was spread on the internet on Tuesday afternoon, the notice said. The authorities confirmed the news after a preliminary inspection, it said.

The local government has set up an investigation team to further deal with this accident and detained all company personnel involved, the notice said.
