Under the theme of "Blossom with a Chinese Dream," another large event in China - the 10th China Flower Expo - will kick off soon in Shanghai, following the Boao Forum for Asia in Hainan Province and international A-class auto exhibition in Shanghai, amid the ongoing international pandemic, showing the nation's confidence in epidemic control.

Preparation for the expo is now in its final stage, with 30 days until the event kicks off. Global Times reporters on Wednesday saw workers busy preparing the site for its opening, such as outside decorations and a rooftop flower garden.

The butterfly-shaped roof will soon be planted with flowers, making it the country's largest rooftop flower garden. "The inside decorations are almost done and we are going to take the pressure tests," Cao Weidong, a staff of the construction and management office of the expo told the media on Wednesday.

The reporters noted that most of the pavilions have completed inner decorations and some rare plants have been also planted in the expo such as a 1,600-year-old tree and 800,000-yuan ($123,112) pine.

Along with the expo exhibition, 293 hotel rooms were converted from containers to accommodate over 1,000 people. The area was previously full of cowsheds, which were turned into hotel rooms for exhibitors and volunteers, Zheng Yue, the person in charge of the hotel business for the expo said on Wednesday.

One of the core areas of this expo will be a peony-shaped flower field with butterflies. The 666-meter-long and 60-meter-wide main axis connects the south and north parts of the pavilion areas. A total of 35 regional exhibition gardens have been built so far.

From April 10 to May 20, eight pressure tests will be conducted, with the largest daily capacity reaching 85,000, the expo organizers said during a press conference on Wednesday.

The expo will take place from May 21 to July 2 in Shanghai's Chongming district. Residents can book tickets on the flower expo official website and other channels, costing from 120 yuan to 180 yuan.
