The Communist Party of China (CPC) and World Political Parties Summit was held via video link on Tuesday. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese president, attended the summit and delivered a keynote speech. 

Xi stressed that political parties should shoulder the responsibility to steer the course by shaping the shared future for mankind, and to build consensus by upholding and promoting the common values of humanity. Political parties need to shoulder the responsibility to promote development by bringing greater benefits to all peoples in a fairer manner. They should be responsible for enhancing cooperation to jointly deal with global crises and challenges; and shoulder the responsibility to improve governance by enhancing the capacity to ensure people's wellbeing, Xi also noted. 

Political parties have played an important role in all countries' politics, especially in China, a country that has become the strongest power to promote political party diplomacy around the globe. The world is standing at the crossroads. The summit on Tuesday eyes the future and on common ground for political civilization. Mutual understanding and candid exchanges between political parties will add key support and build an important bond for friendly cooperation between countries.

Over 500 political parties and organizations from over 160 countries attended the summit. In addition, more than 10,000 representatives of different parties were present. This might have been one of the largest political meetings in the world. These shocking numbers reflect the will of different political parties to communicate with each other. They have a lot to talk about. Such being the case, this party-to-party communication platform established by China has met the urgent need of the world.

The most important issue for all countries is development. All ruling parties worldwide are facing the test of promoting national development. However, facts have proven that it is not easy to hand in a good answer sheet. The CPC is the party in power continuously for the longest time worldwide, and it has achieved world-renowned achievements in national construction. However, the US and its main Western allies do not accept the CPC's leadership of the country, continue to discredit it and artificially create the deepest political controversy since the end of the Cold War.

The greatest experience of the CPC's success is to proceed from actual national conditions, and to persist in exploring its own path while absorbing the achievements of the entire world's political civilization. The success of the CPC has aroused widespread interest in developing countries, inspiring some ruling parties. The disputes between China and the US are largely due to the struggle between political autonomy and the paradigm prescribed by the US and the West. The US' international political path is to form cliques, and engage in squeeze and coercion. China is committed to promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. World affairs should be discussed together rather than be decided by one country.

Due to constraints at home and abroad, some ruling parties have been trapped in a complicated political environment. In each period, not many parties and countries have had the chance to succeed. 

This conference has provided an unprecedented opportunity for political parties to share governance experiences and realize exchanges and mutual learning of political civilization.

We believe it is easier to "tell the truth" between parties than between countries. Yet the problems and puzzles they encounter involve the political nature of each country. Such discussions will trigger a unique thinking and summary for world political civilization, and may lead to more exploration. Human beings need to emancipate their minds. The number of political parties is much larger than that of countries. No other group can match the experiences of global political parties. Diplomacy between countries needs more tracks and party-to-party exchanges are irreplaceable. When facing problems, parties can tackle them in a more straightforward and profound approach.

The CPC and World Political Parties Summit is itself a groundbreaking new diplomatic platform. We believe that such a grand "cloud meeting" will generate enthusiasm and produce some innovative outcomes. Human beings' quest for good laws and governance is endless, and political parties are the most active main force to realize this kind of exploration. When the solution to problems is gradually weakening at the state level, the dimension of the political parties has been implicitly given a larger mission. It is expected that political parties will eventually forge a milestone of energy and delivery.
