Three districts in northeastern Beijing issued red alerts for rainstorm on Tuesday, as the city prepares for another round of heavy rainfall that will pour into the capital city throughout the day. The city's drainage system has launched first level response, and scenic spots in some mountainous areas are temporarily closed.

Shunyi, Pinggu, and Miyun districts in northeastern Beijing have sounded red alerts as of press time. It is estimated that the city will be seeing moderate to heavy rains with some parts experiencing rainstorms until 8 pm on Tuesday, local media the Beijing Youth Daily reported on Tuesday. 

The accumulated precipitation in parts of Miyun has exceeded 200 millimeters, and downpours are expected to continue until 2 pm, with the central and southern parts of Miyun to reach a cumulative precipitation of 200 millimeters, according to a notice released by the local meteorological observatory.

The notice warned of risks of secondary disasters in mountainous areas, including floods, torrents and geological disasters induced by heavy rainfall. Waterlogging may occur in low-lying urban areas. 

The Beijing municipal meteorological service bureau sounded grade III of severe meteorological disaster emergency response on Monday night, Beijing News reported. 

Scenic spots in related areas have been temporarily shut down as precaution, and more than 40 bus lines have rescheduled routes.
