China is paying close attention to Wednesday's gun attack in Pakistan in which at least one Chinese national has been wounded. The case is under investigation and China has full confidence in Pakistan's protection of Chinese citizens and property, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

AFP reported on Wednesday that at least one Chinese national was wounded in a gun attack in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi on Wednesday.

At Wednesday's media briefing, Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said that China is paying close attention to the case.

The case occurred after a shuttle bus blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which killed nine Chinese and four Pakistanis on July 14.

On Saturday, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the attack on the shuttle bus on its way to the Dasu Hydropower Station was the biggest terrorist attack suffered by Chinese nationals abroad recently.

The perpetrators must be thoroughly investigated and punished without leniency, Wang said while holding the 3rd round of the China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Chengdu on Saturday.
