China’s digital yuan can be used to take Beijing subways now

Beijing's subway system will add more services that are compatible with China's digital yuan from August 1 this year. Passengers now can use digital yuan to buy tickets, all-purpose cards and top up their all-purpose cards balance. 

The new usages of digital yuan across the Beijing subway transportation system add to the existing use were an upgrade since the digital yuan can be used in passing subway ticket machine on June 30, 2021. 

Passengers who have downloaded the digital yuan mobile app can use mentioned services at auto ticket selling machines, auto ticket extension machines f any subway stations in Beijing, according to Beijing Commission of Transport. 

The payment processes for digital yuan are similar to using Alipay and WeChat Pay, which uses the digital yuan mobile app to scan QR code or show QR code for machines and station staff to complete scanning.
