chew carefully and swallow slowly/ 细嚼慢咽/ (xìjiáomànyān)

A: It is really hard to lose weight. Do you have any weight loss suggestions?  

减肥真是太难了,你有什么减肥建议吗?

(jiǎnféi zhēnshì tàinán le, nǐyǒu shenme jiǎnféi jiànyì ma?)

B: First, I think maintaining a healthy diet and learning how to chew carefully and swallow slowly are the most important things. 

首先,我认为保持饮食健康和学会细嚼慢咽是最重要的。

(shǒuxiān, wǒ rènwéi bǎochí yǐnshí jiànkānɡ hé xuéhuì xìjiáomànyān shì zuìzhònɡyào de.)

A: I agree with it. Whenever I would diet before, I would always fast, but it wasn't very effective and actually hurt my health.

我同意,以前减肥我总是节食,但效果并不好,还非常伤害身体。

(wǒtónɡyì, yǐqián jiǎnféi wǒ zǒnɡshì jiéshí, dàn xiàoɡuǒ bìnɡ bùhǎo, hái fēichánɡ shānɡhài shēntǐ.)

B: Fasting is not healthy at all. You can eat to about 70 percent full at each meal and you definitely need to chew carefully and swallow slowly, because the food will be easier to digest when it reaches your stomach. Next, you have to eat regularly. If you add exercise to that, I believe it will be very effective. 

节食是很不健康的。你可以每餐吃到七分饱,而且一定要细嚼慢咽,因为这样到达胃里是很好消化的。其次,吃饭要有规律。搭配上运动,我相信会很有效果的。
