Just before schools open nationwide, the summer-vacation arts festival has come to an end in Beijing on Tuesday, lighting around 50,000 art enthusiasts with multi-layer communications of Eastern and Western culture during summer time.

Artists from National Ballet of China performed classic ballet dances including double dance Coppelia, Swan Lake, and the country's famous red ballet show The Red Detachment of Women on the closing ceremony in the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Zhongshan Park in central Beijing.

The festival, titled "open door to art," lasted nearly two months from July 4, and included a string of activities from minors' summer camps to the classical orchestra and singing concerts.

The festival welcomed over 500 campers to different groups to communicate Kunqu Opera, one of the oldest Chinese operas, and traditional Chinese instruments. It also held 46 performances ranging from concerts to theaters, and 12 artist seminars.

"It's been 20 years since Kunqu Opera was listed as the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization in 2001," said Xu Jian, manager at the Forbidden City Concert Hall.

"We hope more children can have a deeper feeling over through the summer camps."

In line with the idea of spreading Chinese culture while communicating with the world, the festival, which lasted for 28 years, has become the most influential civil art brand in Beijing.
