The US is advised to act as a decent power and invest its resources in improving the welfare and human rights of the American people, rather than violating the human rights of people in other countries and playing low political tricks as such farces don't earn it anything but turn it into the laughing stock of the international community, Chinese Mission spokesperson Liu Yuyin responded to the US Mission hosting an anti-China exhibition with a violent terrorist and separatist organization.

To contain China, the US doesn't even hesitate to collude with the violent terrorist and separatist organization World Uyghur Congress in holding a so-called "exhibition," trying to reap benefits from spreading disinformation about China. It has crossed the rudimentary moral line in bashing others. Nonetheless, the contemptible act it resorted to only highlights its role as a "conspirator," Liu said.

The WUC hosted an exhibition in Switzerland, claiming people are missing or have been detained in China's Xinjiang region. The US offered financial support for the exhibition.

In response, Liu said that using human rights as a political tool and creating division and turbulence around the world to serve its own political interests has been a trick of the US that is all too familiar to everyone.

The US doesn't care about the human rights of its own people, and worse, it violates frequently the human rights of people in other countries, Liu said noting that the US is the "champion" in the world at killing Muslims.

Since 2011, illegal wars waged by the US in Afghanistan, the Middle East and elsewhere have led to more than 800,000 deaths, most of whom were civilians, and tens of millions have been displaced. US soldiers randomly shot and killed civilians in overseas military operations, and the perpetrators remain at large to this day.

The unilateral coercive measures frequently taken by the US have been further intensified against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, impeding targeted countries from receiving humanitarian aid, including medical supplies and food, even with lives at stake, seriously infringing on the human rights of people in those countries.

"One simply wonders: if the US claims itself as a 'human rights protector,' what human rights is it protecting when it wages wars of invasion, and shoots and throws bombs at innocent civilians? What human rights is it protecting when it imposes sanctions and brings untold miseries to people of its targeted countries?" Liu asked.

In recent years, the human rights situation and living conditions of Americans have deteriorated, while the US government remains indifferent and has done nothing at all. The US is the only developed country where millions of people still suffer from starvation, and nearly one seventh of its population are struggling in poverty. Systemic racism and racial discrimination are on the rise in the US. African Americans, Asian Americans, Muslims and American Indians are subject to severe discrimination and social injustices, said Liu.

The spokesperson noted that the US government's failure in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic has led to massive infections and deaths. In the US, drugs and guns prevail, vicious crimes keep cropping up, and human trafficking and forced labor are rampant. Migrants are held in detention for prolonged periods of time, and migrant children are forced to be separated from their parents.

By comparison, people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, as in the rest of China, enjoy equal status and development opportunities, share the benefits of reform and development, and live an enjoyable and peaceful life. People's sense of fulfillment, happiness and security continues to grow. This is the biggest human rights project and best human rights practice by China.

When a habitual "human rights perpetrator" and "loser" in protecting its own people's human rights claims to care about the human rights of those in other countries, it doesn't take much wisdom to see through the political intentions and farces orchestrated, Liu said.

"The US is therefore advised to act as a decent power and invest its resources in improving the welfare and human rights of the American people, rather than violate the human rights of people in other countries and play low political tricks. Such farces don't earn the US anything. Rather, it turns the country into the laughing stock of the international community," said Liu.
