Two Chinese provinces and one autonomous region -- North China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, Southwest China’s Yunnan Province -- have reported on Sunday one local confirmed patient of COVID-19, two suspected positive cases and another two asymptomatic cases.

The Health Commission of Northeast China’s Liaoning Province, which had reported one new case on Sunday morning, apologized for its mistake that it failed to note the case was an imported one rather than a locally transmitted case.

Shaanxi reported two positive cases on Sunday who are a couple of tourists from Shanghai. They are a couple of retired teachers and were found positive for COVID-19 between Saturday am to Sunday 7am.

On October 9, the couple took flight from Shanghai, transferred in Shaanxi’s Xi 'an city and took flight to Zhangye, Northwest China’s Gansu Province. Then they traveled by car in Gansu and Inner Mongolia. On Friday, the couple took flight from Gansu’s Jiayuguan to Xi 'an with a negative nucleic acid test certificate issued on October 13 by a hospital of Ejin Banner in Inner Mongolia. However, they were found positive during a nucleic acid testing on Friday and have been quarantined for medical observation in a hospital in Xi’an.

Also, the province reported one imported confirmed case and one asymptomatic case.

Erenhot, North China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, reported one local confirmed case from 7am on Saturday to 7am on Sunday. The confirmed case in Erenhot is a close contact of the case reported on October 13 and has been hospitalized in a designated hospital.

Ruili city in Southwest China’s Yunnan Province reported one new asymptomatic case who was found in regular nucleic acid testing among the key group near the border. Longchuan county in the province also reported another asymptomatic case who was found in a nucleic acid testing in a quarantine site.

Also, two new imported cases were reported in Ruili, Yunnan Province. Fourteen patients were discharged from hospital after recovery, and 14 close contacts were released from medical observation, the province reported on Sunday.
