A man surnamed Gao killed five and injured one person with a knife at a village in Wuhan in Central China's Hubei Province on early Monday morning, and killed two other people on his way fleeing, police said.

Gao jumped off a bridge on the Yangtze River at 6 am amid police search and chasing. Search for Gao continues and the case is under investigation.

According to earlier reports by the Cover News, the first five victims are acting chief of the village surnamed Zhang and his wife, Zhang's daughter in law and his two grandchildren. A third grandchild was sent to hospital.

Villagers said Zhang was kind to everyone, and the suspect was a stranger to the village, media reported.
