The resort had also been disinfected, according to a notice released by Shanghai epidemic control and prevention leading group Monday.

Pictures and videos of medical staff giving nucleic acid tests amid firework performance on Sunday night at the resort were widely circulated online. Many netizens called them “heroes in harm’s way.”

“As the epidemic is normalized, the handling of the epidemic is standardized. All tourists can now fall asleep peacefully, but countless of my colleagues will continue to work and complete all standard procedures for prevention and control, just to make people in this city and the people who pass through this city a better life.

“Thank for tonight’s undisrupted fireworks show. We see mankind’s calmness and confidence toward future in front of disaster,” Zhang wrote.

Some Shanghai locals said after all Zhang is still the key stand of Shanghai. Western media once hyped Zhang’s remarks on China's zero-case policy.

While many rides and attractions were closed, outdoor performances continued until the end of the operation on Sunday. Both Shanghai Disneyland and Disney town will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, with a reopening time yet to be determined.
