Another six confirmed local cases and one asymptomatic patient of COVID-19 have been found in Beijing as of 9 am on Thursday.

On Wednesday, two confirmed local cases found in Beijing are close contacts with a confirmed case reported in Northeast China's Jilin Province.

Five close contacts and family members living with one of the two confirmed Beijing cases have tested positive after nucleic acid tests in Haitian district early Thursday morning. Among them, four have been confirmed and one is asymptomatic. They have been transferred to designated hospitals for isolation treatment.

This case in Jilin was confirmed to have been infected with COVID-19 on Wednesday and had a business trip to Beijing from October 21 to November 6. The patient went to Beijing's Haidian, Chaoyang and Dongcheng districts.

In response to the emergency, Haidian promptly launched an epidemiological survey, temporarily closed several areas including a residential community and a local elementary school that the confirmed case from Jilin and her close contacts have been to, and conducted nucleic acid tests on relevant personnel and areas.

As the confirmed case and her close contacts have been to the department in Dongcheng district and the international department of Dongzhimen Hospital, and a shopping mall -- Raffles City in Dongzhimen, Dongcheng district -- the areas will be temporarily suspended from Thursday.
