A man who "vented his anger" at society by killing seven and injuring 13 on a pedestrian shopping street of Anqing in East China's Anhui Province on June 5 was sentenced to death on Monday, according to a statement from Anqing Intermediate People's Court.

The criminal, Wu Liang said he obeyed the verdict and will not appeal.

According to the court, Wu developed the idea of taking revenge on innocent people as he was upset with his family and society.

Around 4:26 pm on June 5, he stabbed 20 innocent people on Renmin Road pedestrian shopping street in Anqing with a knife, resulting in seven deaths and 13 injuries.

According to the court, Wu's confession was not enough for him to get away with heavy punishment since his crime of stabbing 20 innocent people with a sharp blade in a public place was a vile crime that resulted in particularly serious consequences and did great harm to society.
