China's second batch of winter supplies has arrived in Afghanistan. Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan and the acting deputy minister of refugee affairs of the Afghan interim government attended the handover ceremony on Monday.
As a good neighbor, brother and partner, China has always paid great attention to the situation in Afghanistan, said Ambassador Wang Yu while addressing the ceremony.
"The blankets and down jackets donated by the Chinese people will bring warmth to the Afghans in the severe winter, witnessing the friendship between China and Afghanistan."
According to Xinhua News Agency, the batch of winter supplies include more than 70,000 blankets and more than 40,000 down coats.
Wang added that China would continue to enlarge cooperation with Afghanistan on the basis of equality and mutual respect, supporting the economic reconstruction and self-development of Afghanistan.
Arsala Kharoti, the acting deputy minister of refugee affairs of the Afghan interim government, appreciated the large amount of humanitarian aid China donated, promising to distribute the second batch of winter supplies to the Afghans in need in 10 days.
Arsala Kharoti said that Afghanistan-China relations keep developing in a positive way. The deputy minister also said Afghanistan is hoping to get more help not only from China but also from other friendly neighbors in the international community.
"Afghanistan hopes the West could unlock Afghanistan's overseas assets to help solve the current humanitarian and economic problems in Afghanistan," said Arsala Kharoti, according to Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan.
At the first Foreign Ministers' Meeting on the Afghan Issue Among the Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan held on September 8, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced that China will offer 200-million-yuan worth of grains, winter supplies, vaccines, and medicines to Afghanistan in accordance with the needs of the Afghans. The first batch of aid arrived in Afghanistan on September 29.
