A woman was put into 10 days  of administrative detention in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi Province, for failing to cooperate with COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures and disturbing public order, local police said on Wednesday.

On Tuesday night, the women surnamed Jiang, 54, refused to cooperate with COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures and had a quarrel with a security guard at a residential community, according to a notice released by the local police bureau. The woman admitted to her offenses.

The property management department of the compound told media that the woman refused to scan a QR health code when entering the compound and verbally abused a security guard.

Xi'an has been fighting a growing COVID-19 outbreak, with over 200 local cases found since December 9, according to the local authorities.

An online video showing a woman refusing to cooperate with COVID-19 epidemic prevention work went viral on Wednesday, in which the woman said she is not a "common person" because she lived in the US for seven years, likely requesting she receive special treatment.

The man responded, saying: "You've been in the US? Then go back to the US."

The video shows that the scene was outside a residential compound near Xi'an Jiaotong University. Since many faculty members of the university live in the compound, netizens suggested that the woman may be a faculty member of the university. The university told the media that the woman is not a faculty member or student of the university.
