More than 60 ostriches were seen running on the streets of Chongzuo, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Saturday midnight. Nearly 50 ostriches have been found, but 10 to 20 are still missing as of press time.

Videos that recorded the hilarious sight of the ostriches racing on the road have attracted the attention of many local residents and internet users.

The owner of the ostrich farm, surnamed Zhong, said that he called the police at around 4 am shortly after he found out the animals had "escaped" from the farm. The police later mobilized local residents to help look for them. More than 80 ostriches escaped, said Zhong.

More than 80 ostriches escaped, said Zhong, who approximated the number from the farm cameras.

He said the ostriches ran in all directions because they were frightened by traffic. Some ostriches were found eating vegetables in a nearby vegetable field on Saturday morning and were later brought back to the farm.

Zhong added that the longest distance some of the ostriches had run was estimated to be 6 kilometers.
