Two children from one family tested positive for COVID-19 in the preliminary screening in Chaoyang district of Beijing on Monday. Their residential community was put under closed-loop management starting from Tuesday, according to local authorities.

They were screened out when they saw doctors at Tongzhou maternal and child health care hospital in Beijing. The Chaoyang district activated its emergency response mechanism immediately to curb the virus' spread, the authorities said on Tuesday.

Under the closed-loop management, non-community personnel are prohibited to enter.  Related working staff will organize the distribution of supplies to ensure the safety of residents.  

The Chinese mainland on Monday reported 175 local COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said on Tuesday. Of the new local infections, 46 were reported in Jilin, 45 in Guangdong, 1 in Beijing and 4 in Shanghai, respectively, the commission said in its daily report. A total of 330 local asymptomatic cases were reported on Monday, according to the authorities.

The local case found in Beijing lived in the Haidian district, who showed fever and other symptoms on Sunday and went to the fever clinic of a hospital for further treatment on Monday. The patient tested positive for COVID-19 and was sent to the designated hospital for treatment, and displayed mild symptoms.
