Chinese President Xi Jinping said he attaches great importance to the development of China-Serbia relations, and cherishes the good working relationship and friendship with President Aleksandar Vucic. Xi made the remark in a congratulatory message he sent on Tuesday to Vucic on his reelection as the Serbian president.

Xi said that he is willing to work with President Vucic to strengthen strategic communication, consolidate political mutual trust, expand and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields between the two countries, and steer China-Serbia ties toward new achievements, so as to benefit the two countries and their people

Xi pointed out that the China-Serbia comprehensive strategic partnership maintained vigorous development momentum in recent years with the two sides seeing solid political mutual trust and fruitful bilateral practical cooperation.

Facing major global changes unseen in a century, the two sides firmly respect each other, treat each other as equals, and join hands in building a community with a shared future for mankind, making positive contributions to safeguarding international equity and justice, said the Chinese president in his message.

Xi met with Vucic in Beijing when the latter came to the Chinese capital for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games in early February.

The two leaders spoke highly of the China-Serbia "iron-clad" friendship, noting that the two countries share a high level of political mutual trust and that the bilateral relationship has endured many challenges and become a model for international ties, according to Xinhua News Agency.
